Dr. Martin Luther King’s Birthday
January 18, 2005
I worked. All Day. But that ain’t what I wanted to talk to y’all about. A day or so after my birthday, I got a package in the mail from my uncle Doug.
It was a plain brown envelope, but what was inside was far from plain. I found a booklet for the Wright Family Reunion that was several pages thick! Reading the program was almost like being there. I could just imagine my sister leading the song.
And the menu! Makes my mouth water just to read it…
Mitsy and I sat down and took a long look at the pictures on the front page. We made a game out of guessing the faces (at least the ones I remember!).
Also in the packsge were two calendars with anniversaries, birthdates, and the dates that some of our loved ones had passed on. I have to say it was nice trip down memory lane. But that wasn’t the kicker…
On Doug’s note he wrote,
“I hope you like the calendar, and I plan to call everyone on their birthday or anniversary”
That really says a lot about my uncle. Thanks for the package, and the call on my birthday.
I saved the best for last: Mom and Dad. They sent me a nice card for my birthday. I would have missed the surprise if Mitsy had not *completely* unfolded the card! Mom, Dad, thanks for dinner!
Free Image Software from Google
January 18, 2005
Excite News: “Search engine leader Google Inc. (GOOG) released free software Tuesday for organizing and finding the hundreds or thousands of digital photos often stored on a computer’s hard drive.
Using technology developed by Picasa Inc., which Google bought last year, the new software will try to make keeping a photo collection and editing pictures simple even for beginners, said Lars Perkins, Picasa’s general manager.”
This software would be great for Mitsy, who has a huge collection of images that she uses for her cards.
