Slumbering Powers

"Deep within man dwell those slumbering powers; powers that would astonish him, that he never dreamed of possessing; forces that would revolutionize his life if aroused and put into action." ~ Orison Swett Marden
Drunkard Burns Himself

I just couldn't pass this up! It is hilarious in a pitiful way…

What lips my lips have kissed, and where, and why,
I have forgotten, and what arms have lain
Under my head till morning; but the rain
Is full of ghosts tonight, that tap and sigh
Upon the glass and listen for reply,
And in my heart there stirs a quiet pain
For unremembered lads that not again
Will turn to me at midnight with a cry.
Thus in winter stands the lonely tree,
Nor knows what birds have vanished one by one,
Yet knows its boughs more silent than before:
I cannot say what loves have come and gone,
I only know that summer sang in me
A little while, that in me sings no more.
A haunting poem that I discovered on meme2’s tagworld page. This poem is but one of the many great things you’ll find there.
Only A Dream?
March 10, 2006
If I achieved my PERSONAL BEST a great deal more FREQUENTLY, in the next TWO YEARS I could accomplish:
- 1. The move to Texas
- 2. Land a job in the IT field paying at least 50K/yr.
- 3. Supplement my income with money from my directory website on blogs, and my own ebook sales.
Today’s Quest
My current schedule contain steps that will get you closer to my vision of leaving Hawaii. An example ’step’ is creating and following the family’s budget.
The sum of my weekly efforts almost add up to a really big goal. I still need to apply more focused energy.
There is less than one week left before I take the driving portion of the Driver’s License test. I haven’t done that in sooo long that it has become a really big goal.
An Extra Hour or Two
March 9, 2006
Today was a good day; my wife drove down to Kailua and met me at Windward Mall for lunch. We had Mexican food that was really good. Lotsa food, but not really heavy or greasy.
I was able to keep my edge today:
If I were at the top of my energy level today I could have closed out 2-3 more tickets today. As it stands, I did accomplish quite a bit.
With an extra energetic hour or two this evening I could have begun to clean out the caddy.
If I had an extra two enjoyable hours this evening, I would have spent them cooking dinner, or at the movies, or even at Sunset beach.
Commit to Exellence

Inspiring Goals For March:
1) Finally get my driver’s license.
2) Post thirty reviewed blog posts on my directory site (not yet online)
3) Donate the cadillac to charity.
Next on my list is to replace the bulbs on the Honda, fix the windshield nozzles, and get the car inspected.
How much can you finish if you never get started?
That’s a pretty obvious answer.
What task have you been avoiding that one small step could be taken on today?
Inpecting the car

Three Biggest Fears
March 3, 2006
Fear of Success
Fear of Failure
Fear of Change
Don’t they look familiar?
I can honestly say that I did not let any opportunities slip by today because of uncertainty. However, I did put off getting the car inspected for another day because of fear of failure. Not that my car is a piece of junk or anything.
If success were a guarantee, I’d start my own internet business with an information product that I created from scratch.
Three Biggest Distractions
March 3, 2006
- Unfocused time on the Internet
- Reading Fiction
- Procrastination
Actually, as I look at the above list, they are really three sides of the same coin:
Fear.
Fear of success, fear of change, fear of the unknown.
I don’t have much of a vision for my life (as yet), but one step I could take right now would be to save more money for the coming move to Texas.
However, the “Big Three” (see above) are interfering with that goal.
If I were to take one step each day toward my goal, I would get there too fast (fear of success and change).
